Ann Marie Simko graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY in 1987. She began her career at Albany Medical Center working in the ICU and rehab unit with spinal cord injuries, amputees, and burn patients, before moving to Virginia in 1988.

Madison Pessel, a native of Northern Virginia, earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in physical therapy from James Madison University. She obtained a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from New York University. Before joining Back in Motion, Madison served as a Physical Therapist at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital.

Marinel is a native of Cape Town, South Africa and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy Cum Laude from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. She later obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.
Kim graduated from the University of Miami Physical Therapy program in 1989 with a Master’s of Science. Kim began working at Back in Motion in March 2014. Prior to joining us she worked in a variety of settings including outpatient orthopedics, nursing homes, and home health care. She has a wide array of experience in the afflictions facing our aging population.
Katy earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Marymount University and has her Bachelors degrees in Biology and Painting: Studio Art, while minoring in Athletic Training. She has studied and practiced in Orthopedic Sports medicine, Inpatient Neuro-Rehabilitation, and Pediatric facilities. She has had the immense privilege of spending time in Sierra Leone practicing with an incredible therapy group called Enable the Children under World Hope International.

Lisa has been with Back in Motion Physical Therapy since October 2018. She graduated from Ursinus College with her Bachelor of Science degree and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Temple University.
Melinda graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in Science/ Physical Therapy in 1979. She has since worked in a variety of settings including several hospitals (inpatient total joints/orthopedics, neurological disorders such as MS and strokes, and amputees), skilled nursing homes, and private practice PT.

Erica Palmer, originally from New Orleans, earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia and her Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Julie Huelsman earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2005 from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. Since then she has worked with a diverse group of patients in Seattle, Manhattan, Boston, and now Alexandria.

Dr. Esther Reed is a physical therapist who joined Back in Motion Physical Therapy in May 2022. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Radford University in Virginia.
Emily earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The University of Lynchburg and her Bachelor's in Exercise Physiology from Lynchburg College. Following graduation, Emily moved to Massachusetts working in Outpatient Orthopedics before joining Back in Motion in August 2022.
Bryce received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Quinnipiac University where he played 4 years of Division 1 Lacrosse. Prior to Back in Motion, Bryce spent time with EXOS in Frisco Texas where he worked with high school, college and professional level athletes.

Caitlin has been a therapist with Back in Motion since 2019 when she graduated from George Washington University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Dr. Nadia Wahid earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University in 2017.
Sara Bell earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree from the University of Missouri in 2010.
Paige Burke, originally from New Jersey, earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University in New York.
Drew is from Fairfax Station, VA and graduated from Northern Virginia Community College’s Physical Therapy Assistant program. Prior to receiving his license as a PTA, Drew spent 7 years as a personal trainer at Mclean Sport and Health. Through this experience he developed his philosophy that movement is medicine. At Sport and Health, he spent years coaching adults and teenagers through exercise and injury prevention. He loves to incorporate functional strength training into his treatment sessions.
Lesley Spalding, a native of Northern Virginia, joined the Back in Motion team in January 2007. Lesley’s experience in the fitness industry spans over 20 years and holds many certifications that include AFAA, Yogafit, and Stott Pilates Instructor Trainer.

Back in Motion PT no longer offers treatment for Pelvic floor disorders. However, our sister company, Physical Therapy Your Way and Advanced Specialty Care PLLC offers treatments for all of these services. Physical Therapy Your Way performs internal pelvic floor evaluation and treatments for bowel, bladder and sexual dysfunction.

Back in Motion PT does however continue to treat women of all ages including prenatal and post-partum women suffering from pelvic girdle pain, upper and low back pain, sacro-iliac dysfunction and pubic symphysis separation, osteoporosis, lymphedema, carpal tunnel syndrome and more. Back in Motion PT offers more traditional spine and pelvic girdle treatments which can be treated externally.
