Marinel Jacobs

Marinel earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. After moving to the United States, she earned her transitional doctorate in Physical Therapy at Shenandoah University in Virginia. She has practiced for at least 15 years and is a certified orthopedic manual therapist (COMT) trained in the Maitland concept for joint mobilization. Marinel worked in multiple orthopedic and sports medicine settings in South Africa, Namibia, and the United States. She has more than 15 years experience and has been with Back in Motion since 2015. She treats mainly the adult and aging population and her special interests include post-surgical rehabilitation, degenerative joint conditions and osteoporosis.

MShe is trained in the Meeks Method for osteoporosis treatment, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), Kinesiotaping and is currently learning Total Motion Release (TMR) for improving function. She also holds a certification for Direct Access, which allows her to evaluate patients without the need for a prescription from a physician.

Marinel is active and likes to be outdoors hiking, jogging or gardening. She has a passion for wellness and preventative health and wants to help everyone be as healthy and independent as they can be.
