Danielle earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The George Washington University. After a 10-year government career, she decided to make a life change and become a physical therapist. She currently treats all orthopedic injuries, Women’s Health and pelvic floor conditions.

In addition to working as a physical therapist, Danielle is a Registered Yoga Teacher as well as a Spin instructor & Certified Personal Trainer.

Katie is a Chicago native currently living in Northern Virginia with her husband, 2 daughters and her dog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Katie graduated PT school from Saint Louis University and started practicing physical therapy in sports medicine/orthopedics in Chicago before moving to Sacramento, CA where she started focusing on Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy. She now specializes in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction for men, women and children while still working in outpatient orthopedics as well. Katie received her pelvic floor certification through Herman and Wallace in 2014. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, running/spinning/exercising, traveling and baking.

Jake Plain, PT, DPT

Jake Plain PT, DPT has worked at Back in Motion PT since May 2015. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Longwood University in Farmville, VA. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University. His clinical interests include neurologic disorders, balance disorders and orthopedics. He is an LSVT BIG certified therapist specializing in Parkinson’s disease rehabilitation. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his fiancée, biking and running.


Kim Guinee, PT, DPT

Kim graduated from the University of Miami Physical Therapy program in 1989 with a Master’s of Science. Kim began working at Back in Motion in March 2014. Prior to joining us she worked in a variety of settings including outpatient orthopedics, nursing homes, and home health care. She has a wide array of experience in the afflictions facing our aging population. Kim holds a Maitland Certificate of Orthopedic Manual Therapy, (COMT). Maitland-is an Austrailian manual therapy approach developed by Geoff Maitland, used to treat and manage diseases and impairments. She also holds a Certification for Direct Access which allows her to evaluate patients without the need of a prescription from a physician. Kim has a professional interest in working with orthopedics, pre and post surgical, all types of sprains and strains, and geriatrics. She enjoys working with athletes and runners using video analysis for movement dysfunctions— In her spare time Kim coaches youth sports and spends time with her husband and 3 children. Health and Fitness have become a true passion for her and she spends time biking, hiking, golfing, and weight lifting. She also volunteers as an Officer in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Lesley Spalding, a native of Northern Virginia, joined the Back in Motion team in January 2007. Lesley’s experience in the fitness industry spans over 20 years and holds many certifications that include AFAA, Yogafit, and Stott Pilates Instructor Trainer.


Zoe Randol

Zoë Cooprider Randol, PT, DPT

Zoë C. Randol, PT, DPT graduated from Marymount University in Arlington,  VA with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.  A Certified Pilates Mat and  Apparatus Instructor through Quantum Pilates, she incorporates Pilates movements and principles into her physical therapy treatments.  She can also offer one-on- one instruction in Pilates Apparatus.  Her training includes Strain-Counterstrain, Posture Restoration Institute and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction. She enjoys working in the orthopedic setting where she treats patients of all ages. Her goal is to restore pain-free movement, and to help patients develop tools to prevent pain.  Zoë lives in Alexandria with her husband and two children.


Katy Lyon

Katy Lyon, PT, DPT

Katy Lyon, PT, DPT earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Marymount University and has her Bachelor’s degrees in both Biology and Studio Art. After practicing physical therapy in a sports medicine setting for 5 years, she moved to West Africa. Recognizing the extreme need for local physical therapy services for children with disabilities in Sierra Leone, Katy then transitioned to volunteer work in home health pediatrics, which led to implementing the first rehabilitation department for the local Ola During Children’s Hospital.

Katy joined with Back in Motion because of their commitment to excellent patient care through full hour treatment sessions. Katy treats all ages and her continuing education coursework has included Jones Institute Strain and Counterstrain, Postural Restoration Institute (Myokinematic Restoration, Postural Respiration, and Pelvic Restoration), Total Motion Release, Upledger Institute, Barral Institute, Integrative Manual Therapy, Maitland Spinal and Peripheral, and University of St. Augustine courses by S. Paris.

Katy enjoys spending time with her husband John and their two little boys. She likes hiking, basketball, painting/drawing, traveling, and learning new things.
