Balance
Back In Balance Comprehensive Balance Assessment and Training
Poor balance leading to a fall can have devastating effects. According to the Center for Disease Control, nearly 1.6 million elderly Americans go to the emergency room for fall related injuries per year. Older adults who have fallen previously, or who stumble frequently, are two-three times more likely to fall within the next year. For people ages 65 and older, falls are the leading cause of injury and death. Bone fracture is a common result of a serious fall. At least 95% of hip fractures among older adults are caused by falls. Falls can happen anywhere, but research shows that 50-60% of falls occur in or around the home.
