ACL Rehabilitation Prevention Screening and Injury Prevention Experts

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a ligament inside your knee that criss crosses with your Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) between the thigh and shin bone. The ACL provides stability to the leg especially during knee extension (straightening) and rotation type movements.
  • Anterior Cruciate Ligament tears are presently an epidemic in youth sports, and most predominantly in young female soccer and basketball players.
  • Girls are at a 4-6 times greater risk for non-contact ACL tear compared to their male counter parts.
  • Current research suggests 1 in 4 athletes with an ACL injury will sustain a 2nd injury.
  • Studies have shown that when youth female athletes routinely practice an ACL injury prevention exercise program there is a 75% reduction in non-contact ACL tears.
  • Foot orthotics have also shown to decrease ACL non-contact injury by 77%.
Back in Motion Physical Therapy now offers:
  • ACL screening to full sport teams or individual athletic assessments to determine their risk of future non-contact ACL injury.
  • Training your child’s coach in ACL prevention exercises
  • individual training for athletes at an elevated risk for injury
  • Custom made orthotics
